Band Biography

Growing up in Southern California, the Lekas brothers and longtime friend Tim Miller moved to San Francisco in 2001 to play music.  Drawing from the cities rich musical history, the band plays original tunes that are unique and familiar with inventive mandolin solos and powerful vocals that separate these guys from the pack.  Their self titled album, ‘In Rare Form’ (2002), has been played on 93.7 FM KSFM and  90.7 FM KUSF in San Francisco, 97.1 FM KLSX and 89.7 FM in Los Angeles, 91.3 FM Castleton, Vermont, 88.3 FM Fayettville, Arkansas, 92.1 FM WUMS in Mississippi, and 88.7 FM WHCL in Upstate, NY.  Their self-produced debut CD was compared to the likes of Widespread Panic, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane and Neil Young & Crazy Horse in a review by An Honest Tune, Issue 5.1.

Touring throughout California from Orange County to South Lake Tahoe, In Rare Form has been building a strong fan base and playing larger regional venues (Slim’s, SF 2/5/04 and Hard Rock Café, Newport Beach 2/27/04).

Tracks 1 and 2 were recorded at APG studios in San Francisco, Track 3 was recorded live at Last Day Saloon in San Francisco on October 9, 2003.  With live shows that live up to their name, In Rare Form plays music “…that will put a smile on your face and a wiggle in your ass.-SF Weekly, SF Music Awards 2003”  Their second self-produced CD is being recorded at Expressions New Media, Emeryville CA and will be released in summer 2004.
